History

The history of Roundtop started with our founder, Irv Naylor. Irv loved to ski and would often make weekend ski trips to Vermont. However the appeal of driving all night, skiing all day, partying all night, skiing all day then driving home in time for work on Monday began to wear thin. After a day of skiing at Blair Mountain in Dillsburg, Irv decided there must be a way to provide better skiing in this area.

Irv found a group of like minded business people from York who were willing to invest in a local ski area and Ski Roundtop was born.

On Saturday November 28, 1964, Ski Roundtop officially opened. It had everything it needed, a chairlift, two rope tows, 4 slopes but something was missing…snow!

In 1974, a struggling ski area called Charnita was purchased and Ski Liberty was born.

In 1981, Ski Windham joined the Roundtop family.

1999 marked a momentous occasion as our friends from Whitetail joined the family. Roundtop continues to thrive and offer year-round fun. Roundtop, Liberty and Whitetail are now part of Peak Resorts. Peak now operates 17 successful resorts spanning from Missouri to New Hampshire.
