ELK MOUNTAIN UPCOMING EVENTS

Elk Mountain, Union Dale

New for 2022 - 2023
Situated in the beautiful Endless Mountains, Elk Mountain offers 180 skiable acres with 27 trails ranging from green to blue to black diamond, featuring a trail for every skill level. It’s a favorite resort for those of you looking for challenging terrain. Elk is committed to maintaining the beauty of the natural landscape of the Endless Mountains and has a tree planting program that dates to the late1970’s. This season Elk planted 900 White and Norway Spruce trees to its upper Tunkhannock and Iroquois trails. The resort has also added LED lights to the Susquehanna and East Slope and plans to introduce a new season-long children’s program.

Elk Mountain is set in the "Endless Mountains" about a half hour north of Scranton. It boasts a 1000-foot vertical drop, 180 acres of skiable terrain, 27 trails, and a big terrain park, the Stompin' Grounds. Five doubles and a fixed-grip quad provide uplift; four of these including the quad run from the base to the summit. Quality snow, challenging and diverse terrain and a committed staff have allowed Elk Mountain to be your premier ski facility.  Since 1959, Elk has been a name you can trust.  It's like skiing in Vermont without the drive.

Terrain
Two long beginner trails, Lehigh and Hiawatha, run from the summit, but skiers and riders make the trip to Elk for its top-to-bottom blue and black cruising terrain. With ten of the former and 11 of the latter they are rarely disappointed.

If you're not quite ready to keep up with your faster friends or play in the park, fear not. Elk's certified ski and board school is complemented by some excellent learning terrain. Start on the wide-open Beginner's Slope then graduate to the spacious East and West Slopes. Two double chairs serve this terrain.

Impeccable grooming and aggressive snowmaking keep the slopes in good shape, augmented by five feet of natural snow a season. The base complex features a large day lodge, all guest services, the ski school center, a restaurant, rentals, and a ski and board shop.

There are a number of dining and lodging options nearby. Scranton, 30 miles away, offers plenty of diversions.
