Job Title:  Volunteer Ranger/Mountain Host                 

Department:  Risk Management, Safety, & Security

Reports to:  Supervisor, Ranger Patrol

FLSA Status:  VOLUNTEER

 

Function as a safety patrol for the ski area with the ultimate goal of deterring reckless and out-of-control skiing through skier/snowboarder education and when necessary, enforcement of the “Responsibility Code”. Serve as on-mountain Ambassadors to assist guests.  Assist Ski Patrol as necessary.

How I can create Guests for Life:

 

  • Provide skier education where possible, while patrolling, through guest contact on lifts, explanation of "Your Responsibility Code" to violators of the Code; provide trail maps and any other assistance to guests where needed.
  • Patrol assigned zone.
  • Issue warnings or void tickets for violations of “Your Responsibility Code".
  • Assist in accident investigation.
  • Provide skier information to bus groups.
  • Reward responsible, young skiers as part of our "positive re-enforcement" program.
  • Support Ski Patrol when called upon to: direct skier traffic around accidents; assist with putting up or taking down nets and fences, and closing or opening the mountain.
  • Complete the Daily Report of Activities at end of shift.
  • Show educational video if assigned.
  • Provide crowd control in the ski area as needed.
  • Oversee the ski lift gate area to facilitate smooth line management
