As one of the key elements to our success, Snowmaking is a fast paced, physically challenging and also a very rewarding position.

Elk Mountain relies on man-made snow to get our slopes open and increase the snow depth to fulfill our promise to our guests for a lengthy and quality ski season. Man-made snow is the end result of combining compressed air, high pressured water and cold temperatures. Our snowmakers are responsible for the set up and operation of the snowmaking equipment. When temperatures permit, we will try to make snow 24 hrs/day, 7days/week thru December and January until Elk has 100% great snow cover. We typically continue making snow, as needed, from this point thru February and into March.

Some of the specifics and requirements for the Snowmaking Positions:

• Must be 18 years of age or older & legally employable in PA.
• These positions are Seasonal Full-time.
• 8-12 hr shifts per day, 4-6 days per week – as weather permits.
• Snowmaking runs 24 hrs/day, so all shifts will be available.
• Uniform Jackets, gloves provided/loaned.
• Must have a good work ethic and strive to be an active member in a team environment.
• Be alert, safety driven and observant to your surroundings at all times, reporting and/or addressing issues and hazards when present.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work out in the elements.
• Physically capable of working and walking on uneven/rough/steep terrain.
• Able to perform physical lifting/bending/pulling as required during operation of snowmaking equipment.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
